Mark Rosenblatt is an award-winning British theatre director. His work has been seen at
the Royal National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Young Vic, The Tricycle, the
Arcola, Battersea Arts Centre, for English National Opera and across the country in major
touring productions for Oxford Stage Company and Thelma Holt Ltd.
After studying at Oxford University, he made his professional debut with an adaptation of
S. Anski’s Yiddish classic THE DYBBUK. The production won the prestigious JMK Young
Director of the Year Award. At 21, Mark was and remains its youngest recipient.
His company Dumbfounded Theatre was an Associate Company of the Young Vic (2005-
2006) and is committed to the rediscovery of neglected classics from the international
repertoire and to making bold new work. In 2005 it produced the widely acclaimed, award-
winning LAST WALTZ SEASON at the Arcola Theatre. Currently it is developing a
revelatory new play by Amy Evans about Nina Simone and an epic adaptation of Isaac
Bashevis Singer short stories by National Theatre playwright Samuel Adamson.
Alongside his theatre work, Mark is screen-adapting W. Somerset Maugham’s play THE
CIRCLE for Joseph Abrams and Brilliant Films, whilst his radio production of
PROFESSOR BERNHARDI, originally broadcast last year, will be transmitted again in
April 2008 on BBC Radio 3.
